A Dolly-Inspired Celebration of Unapologetic Beauty

Dolly Parton has been on my mind lately. Watching clips of her interviews and performances, I find myself awed and inspired by this weird and wonderful woman. She is the anchor and inspiration for our fall boudoir event: More Is More.

"Find out who you are. And do it on purpose."

Most of us live ordinary lives. If you’re like me, you might be living a much more ordinary life than you need to—under-rating your uniqueness, under-using your talents, and underestimating who you are.

Dolly Parton came from the most ordinary of circumstances, but that was the only ordinary thing about her. She took an extraordinary talent, poured it into her own bold style, and built an empire. Yet what made her truly remarkable wasn't just her success—it was her daily choice to put her trust in God, to be unapologetically herself, and to be a constant blessing to the people around her.

None of us will ever be Dolly Parton, and that’s the point. She was one-of-a-kind, and so are you.

Finding Magic in the Ordinary

When we're shooting, there are always real world things happening - anthills, wardrobe malfunctions, a cramp in the subject's foot - but boudoir photography is all about revealing the beauty that's hiding in the ordinary moments.

Our Boudoir Process

STEP 1: CONSULTATION

Before you decide to purchase or claim a free session, the first step is a phone consultation with Leah. She will take you through all the details of the shoot such as our posing system, what clothing to bring, photo pricing, etc. If you're ready to book or to claim your prize, we'll find a date right then and there!

STEP 2: TRANSFORMATION

When you arrive for your boudoir session, Leah will do your hair and makeup. We are going for a dramatic makeup style that will make you feel and look glamorous - but not overdone! We want your hair to look tousled and bed-head so a loose curl works beautifully. Makeup and hair can be personalized, however, and we are eager to work with you to make you look your best.

STEP 3: THE SHOOT

The photoshoot portion of your session is the most fun! Though you may be nervous for the first few minutes, you will be feeling comfortable and confident before too long. Kevan's posing process is indestructible - it works for EVERYONE. Also, Leah is always there to lend a hand for outfit and hair adjustments. So, all you have to do is put on an outfit and we will guide you through every single detail of the posing - right down to how you lay your hands and how you point your toes!

STEP 4: THE REVEAL

About 1-2 weeks after your session, we will reveal our favourite photos in an Ordering Appointment. Expect to love WAY MORE photos than you expect! Our clients are blown away every single time by their amazing images - and you will be too! Our Italian-made albums, canvases, metal prints, legacy boxes and more, are keepsakes that you will treasure for the rest of your life! And for all of you who win a prize, you'll also receive our Dolly-inspired bedazzled Retroviewer with 7 of your favourite pics!

MEET THE DECORO TEAM

We are a husband and wife team from Fernie, BC. Kevan is the photographer and has been shooting weddings since 2007 and portraits since 2012. We began Decoro in 2013 and have had a full-time studio since then. We have been married 22 years, and have three children aged 15, 13 and 11.

Terms and Conditions

If you are chosen to win one of our 20 smaller prizes, you must put down a deposit of $100. That deposit will be refunded to you at your Ordering Appointment (1-2 weeks after your photoshoot) OR you can apply it to your purchase. The deposit ensures that clients honour their appointments (we can't run an appointment-based business without this insurance).

We don't sell any photos to you until your Ordering Appointment, which happens in our studio usually 1-2 weeks after your photoshoot. Our goal is to make you fall in love with your photos - but if you don't, you don't purchase any and you still get your deposit back. Why would we set it up like that? Because we have a lot of experience creating beautiful photos and we know that you will love them!

Our photography products start at $700, which is for one small hand-crafted Italian-made wall art piece called an "Amalfi Panel". Most of our clients purchase collections that include Italian albums, large wall art pieces and digital files. No-interest payment plans are available so that you can splurge on all your favourite photos with no regret.
